Dairy product manufacturing accounts for 8.9% of Canada’s food and beverage manufacturing GDP. This sector contributed approximately $3B in GDP (in 2012 dollars) in 2021.
There were more than 27,400 people employed in the sector across the country, comprising 9.2% of the food and beverage workforce in 2022.
Workers nearing retirement age (55 and over) comprise 23.9% of the labour force, compared to 27.4% of the manufacturing sector and 23.1% in all industries.
