Skills Training Atlantic Canada
A new program in Atlantic Canada to advance skills and training for manufacturing businesses.
Skills Training Atlantic Canada
Skills Training Atlantic Canada (STAC) is an exciting new project, that was designed with an expert group of partners for the food and beverage manufacturing industry in Atlantic Canada. This project will work directly with regional employers in addressing skills gaps through specific training for employees.
Similar to other regions across Canada, the food and beverage manufacturing sector in Atlantic Canada has struggled with workforce challenges due to employee turnover, retirement and recruitment barriers. Food Processing Skills Canada has been an enduring advocate for businesses to adopt a new playbook on skills training and workforce culture. Taking a fresh approach to workforce training is proven to positively shift the mindset of an individual, and successfully re-chart the course of a company.
Skills Training Atlantic Canada will use educational content about the latest training in technical skills and social emotional learning, so that employees have the tools to cope effectively with change. A unique mentoring and coaching system will provide guidance to participants, and interactive online training will encourage critical thinking and engagement. To provide important recognition of course completion, participants will receive micro credentials throughout the training process.
Skills Training Atlantic Canada is an example of Food Processing Skills Canada’s commitment to supporting the food and beverage manufacturing industry in developing a culture of lifelong education and continuous learning. This project will also introduce an important milestone in the development of the industry’s Learning and Recognition Framework through testing with three target groups – new hires, frontline works and supervisors.
The Learning and Recognition Framework will be scrutinized to evaluate its application to addressing skills gaps, training for entry level jobs and job progression, recruitment and retention, and productivity.
“SKILLS TRAINING ATLANTIC CANADA WILL DEVELOP NEW EDUCATIONAL CONTENT USING THE LATEST TRAINING IN TECHNICAL SKILLS AND SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING, SO THAT EMPLOYEES HAVE THE TOOLS TO COPE EFFECTIVELY WITH CHANGE.”
