The sugar and confectionery industry divides into 3 pretty obvious categories, so we’re not going to “sugar coat” it:

It’s exactly what it sounds like, this subsector converts beet and cane sugar into molasses, granulated sugar, invert sugar, confectioners’ sugar and good ol’ syrup.
Chocolate Manufacturing
Anything and everything chocolate fits here. You could be either making pure chocolate right from cocoa beans, or using chocolate to make other sweets like candy bars, chocolate-covered almonds or any other form of putting chocolate into a product like truffles, cocoa butter and cocoa powder!
Other Confectionary
Any sweet that has no chocolate and believe us, there are lots! Candy, gum, hard candies, licorice, marshmallows, candy-coated popcorn, gummies, candy canes, candied fruit, stuffed dates, unmedicated lozenges, halvah, marzipan, nougats, toffee, jelly beans and more!
